Teeth not spaced properly are more vulnerable to destructive decay and gum disease, as well as problems with function, such as inefficient chewing, speech impediments, putting excessive forces on teeth that are misaligned, etc. These conditions can lead to eventual tooth loss. Many oral conditions, including advanced gum disease (periodontitis), are also linked to a range of systemic conditions, from heart disease to poorly-controlled diabetes.
By realigning your smile, Dr. Efner boosts self-confidence and overall health. Clear aligners, such as Invisalign® and SureSmile®, are highly desirable for many patients because they conveniently and gently use consistent pressure to move the teeth through the bone and into proper placements. If you are a good candidate for this process (and many patients are!), Dr. Efner will provide a series of oral appliances (aligner trays). Each tray set will move the teeth to the extent that was predetermined and predesigned for that particular tray. After two weeks of wear, patients will switch to the next tray set that corresponds with their unique treatment plan’s sequence. When worn as directed and under Dr. Efner’s close monitoring and supervision, patients can straighten their teeth around the same time or less, as traditional braces without the hassle associated with conventional systems that use metal brackets and wires.
Clear aligners, such as Invisalign®, Sure Smile® and others that are approved by your Dentist, can be removed when brushing or flossing your teeth.
