What "comprehensive" actually means
Most dentistry fixes one tooth at a time. We start with why.
Something hurts, it gets fixed — that's how most dentistry works. Comprehensive dentistry starts differently. Why did this tooth crack? Why is old work failing? Dr. Efner trained at the Kois Center in Seattle specifically in this kind of diagnosis and treatment planning: bite, gums, joints, and teeth examined as one system, so the plan fixes causes, not just symptoms — and the work lasts.
The result is one written plan: what needs doing, in what order, over what timeline, at what cost. Some of it may be urgent. Some can wait. You'll know which is which.
Your first visit
Records and a conversation. That's it.
No drilling. No commitment. First, we take complete records — X-rays, photos, 3D digital scans — and conduct a careful examination that takes in your specific needs and wishes. Then Dr. Efner builds the plan and walks you through it, in plain language, with real numbers — a plan tailored to you.
Long visits, made comfortable
Fewer appointments. An office that doesn't feel like a clinic.
Comprehensive work often means longer visits — and fewer of them. We've built for that: a calm office that doesn't look or sound like a dental clinic, and a team trained around anxious patients.
For bigger visits, or if dental anxiety is part of your story, IV sedation is available — administered by a dedicated board-certified anesthesiologist whose only job that day is your comfort and safety. Many patients complete in one or two long visits what would otherwise take a year of appointments.

Your plan comes with transparent, itemized fees — before anything begins.
Insurance
We are in-network with Cigna PPO. Different PPO plan? We file your out-of-network benefits for you.
Financing
No-interest third-party financing is available through Cherry and CareCredit — 6, 12, or 24 months depending on the amount financed. We also offer an in-house membership plan for patients without dental insurance or on HMO plans.
About Dr. Efner
Behind the calm is a plan. Dr. Efner trained at Seattle's Kois Center — one of dentistry's most respected postgraduate programs — and adds more than 100 hours of advanced study every year. So when your case is complicated, your plan isn't. She serves as President of the Santa Barbara–Ventura County Dental Society.

Is it too late for my teeth?
Almost never. We've planned cases people had written off.
Will I be lectured about not coming sooner?
Never. Instead of judgment, we offer a plan — including for cases that feel hopeless.
How much will it cost?
It depends on the plan — and you'll have the full number in writing before you decide anything. The consultation itself has two set fees: a comprehensive exam ($148) and a full series of X-rays ($209), with photos and 3D scanning included in your records.
Can I be asleep for the work?
For longer visits, IV sedation with a dedicated anesthesiologist is available. Many patients choose it; many find they don't need it.
